冠军大胃王

I had a sudden brainwave to watch 冠军大胃王 (Food Frenzy) he other day and I cried while watching the last episode. I watched it back in secondary two, I think and whoever reads this should go watch it, it is very touching.

The basic plot of this show is basically about a guy who grew up in an orphanage because he lost his parents. When he grew up, his job was a cleaner and in order to earn more money to donate to the orphanage where he grew up in, he risked his life to take part in a food-eating competition and donate the winnings to the orphanage where he grew up in. To do so, he actually lied to the head of the orphanage that he was now a rich office worker working in a big corporation

It was later revealed in the later episodes that he actually had a hole in his stomach which explained his ability to consume lots of food very fast. The people at the orphanage found out about it and went to stop him taking part in the competiton but he decided that he would risk his life to donate the winnings to the orphanage and after winning for one last time, he ran away before his loved ones could find him.

In the last episode, it was shown the head of the orphanage and his love interest, a worker at the orphanage as well as one of the orphans whom he had bonded well with waiting for him to come back. In the switch to the last scene, he was shown ordering noodles at a noodle bar before he collasped on the table, presumbly to show him dead.
